MoU to be signed on December 28:
NFF supports Government
The National Freedom Front (NFF) has decided to support the
Government. This is a consequence of its decision to strengthen the
forward march of the heroic Security Forces and defeat conspiracies
hatched by national and international forces actively engaged in
undermining the humanitarian operations against terrorism.
It is also a response to the invitation recently extended to all
progressives forces by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to unite with the
Government to build the country at this decisive moment.
Two rounds of discussions have been held in this connection between
the UPFA and the NFF.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed by the two parties
on December 28 to commemorate 2009 as the Victorious Year of War Heroes
and to work in cooperation with each other.
Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake, Ministers D.M. Jayaratne,
Dullas Alahapperuma, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Susil Premjayantha and
Governor Alavi Moulana attended the discussions on behalf of the UPFA
and Wimal Weerawansa, Nandana Gunatilaka, Piyasiri Wijenayake and Kamal
Deshapriya attended on behalf of the NFF. NFF President Wimal Weerawansa
told the ITN TV yesterday evening that all progressive forces should
unite and defeat attempts by local and foreign evil forces to prevent
the victory of Security Forces in 2009.
