Free uniforms for private bus crews

Provisions of free uniforms to private bus employees will be implemented stage by stage commencing on January 1. it will be completed before the end of January, President of Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gemunu Wijeratne said in a press release yesterday.

As per instructions from the Supreme Court, uniform and ticket machine usage has become mandatory with effect from January 1, 2009 in the Western Province.

However, ticket machine usage will be implemented from February 1, 2009 in view of certain delays in the removal of bus fare discrepancies in the Western Province.

This will be sorted out before the end of January '09, the press release further added.
