Mohammed Naalir
The Government and private sector employees must join hands to abort
the conspiracy that is being organised against the Government by certain
internal and external forces, Patriotic Workers' Centre (PWC) Chairman,
Piyasiri Wijenayake claimed.
Addressing a media briefing at the National Freedom Front (NFF) Head
Office, Wijenayake said there were one million employees in the
Government sector and six million in the private sector.
He stressed the role that should be played by the working class to
protect nation's integrity and the contributory role towards their part
in economic development.
He said the, PWC unlike other trade unions had to act based on two
agendas-protecting the privileges of the working class while assisting
the Government's efforts to eliminate terrorism and restore peace and
prosperity.
Wijenayake said all LTTE controlled areas except for a small area of
Kilinochchi in the North the entire East had been recaptured by the
valiant forces.
He expressed confidence that the Security Forces will hoist the
National flag even in Kilinochchi shortly.
Amidst various criticism against the Government, the year 2009 will
be a decisive year for the country and terrorism will be wiped out.

and Treasurer Niluk Mallawa were also present.
