President, PM, Opp. Leader discuss CC

Matters related to the appointment of members to the Constitutional Council (CC) was discussed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka and Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday morning, the Government Information Department said.

A media release by the Department also said that discussions had also focused on the practical feasibility of certain aspects related to the 17th Amendment to the Constitution.

The release also said that both parties had agreed to continue discussions in the future in view of completing the necessary appointments to the Constitutional Council.
