Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake yesterday said Human
Rights were enshrined and ensured by Asians whose lives were deeply
interwined with religions long before they were legalised in the world.
Dissanayake was speaking at the prize distribution for winners who
have participated at the islandwide Quiz contest organised by the
People's Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) to coincide with
the International Human Rights Day at district level.
"The moral values of people have deteriorated drastically as such the
people have less concerns of the rights of other people. The religious
centric society has drastically changed with the embrace of alien
cultures, he said. |
