Police tough on revellers
Sripada season begins on December 12:

Maskeliya: Revellers during the Sripada season which begins on
December 12 will be severely dealth with, Police said.
Three-wheeler and private vehicle drivers who fail to follow rules
and regulations from Hatton to Nallathanniya via Maskeliya and
Nortonbridge will be severely punished, Senior Superintendent of Hatton
Region S. Swarnasinghe told a meeting at the Hatton-Dickoya Urban
Council Auditorium.
SSP Swarnasinghe said three-wheeler drivers who flout the law will be
strictly dealth with.
“If a driver is found drunk he will be punished. People selling
liquor, drug addicts, those in possession of explosives, groups found
drunk and disturbing people and Sri Pada pilgrims will be severely
dealth with,” he said.
SSP Swarnasinghe said bus crew should check baggages of passengers.
Hatton - Dickoya Urban Council Chairman Dr. A. Nadakumar said he had
completely banned the use of Polythene in Hatton and Dickoya Towns.
Action will be taken against those who use polythene, he said.

1001 lotus flowers to the statue of the Buddha on December 12 at Hatton
Town.
The chariot carrying idols and statues of God Saman will be received
at the entrance to Ginigathena Town by the Chief Ministers of the
Central Province and Sabaragamuwa Province. A special pooja will also be
conducted, Ambegamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman G. Naguleswaran said. |
