Lankan Development squad knocked out in Plate semi-finals
The Sri Lanka Rugby Development Squad which took part in the
International Invitation segment of the Dubai International Rugby Sevens
were knocked-out by RC Yug by 31 points (three goals, two tries) to 5
(one try) in the semi-finals of the Plate Trophy at Dubai on Saturday.
The Lankan Development Squad which was tagged as the SLRFU
President’s Sevens were drawn into Group ‘D’ along with Les Bleus, South
Sea Drifters and Etihad Harlequins.
The Sri Lankans lost both group matches to Les Bleus (19-22) and
South Sea Drifters ((0-43) with Etihad Harlequins pulling out at the
last moment.
The Lankans received a walk-over in the Plate quarter-finals before
losing to RC Yug in the semis in the Invitation Segment in which only 14
teams took part.
Sporting Chance Foundation won the Cup Championship by overcoming HFW
Kooga Wailers by 34 points to 5 in the final. |
