Public corporation is vital for the Police Force to maintain law and
order in the country, said Southern Range Senior DIG D.W. Prathapasinghe.
“The co-opration between the general public and Police was visible in
the setting of community centres in the Southern Province,” he said.
DIG D.W. Prathapasinghe expressed these sentiments at a ceremony held
at the Hikkaduwa Police Station held to distribute five motorcycles to
the Police Mobile Division of the Hikkaduwa Police recently.
Handing over the motorcycles to the Police personnel Senior DIG
Prathapasinghe urged the beneficeries to make use of these motorcycles
for the benefit of the public and to control the crimes in the area.
Religious ceremonies were conducted by the clergy of all religions at
the Hikkaduwa Police Station. Senior DIG Prathapasinghe asserted that
security in the Southern Province will be strengthened with the
assistance of the Defence Security and appropriate traffic arrangements
for smooth vehicle plying will be mooted. He emphasised that more Police
Community Centres will be set up in the Southern range soon.
“Our bounden duty is to implement the President’s concept of Mathata
Thitha to eradicate the hard drug menance from the Southern Range and
the country,” DIG Prathapasinghe said.
While appealing to his officers to build a close relationship with
the media in order to develop the Southern Range Senior DIG
Prathapasinghe thanked all who participated at the ceremony. |
