HNB - athletic and football champions

The Hatton National Bank athletic and football teams emerged champions of the Mercantile Athletic meet and Mercantile Football League Championship respectively.

In the Mercantile Athletic Meet Hatton National Bank won 16 Gold Medals, 9 Silver and 10 Bronze Medals.

HNB Team was led by veteran Sri Lankan Athlete Dhammika Menike held at the Sugathadasa Stadium recently.

Erandhi Gallage - 3, Padma Perera and Mahil Kushan - 2 each, P.P. De Silva, Dhammika Menike, Sashika Samarasinghe, Shalini Fernando, Roshen Fernando, L.D.S. Romain and Umayanga De Soysa - 1 each won the Gold Medals at this Athletic Meet.

The Relay Team comprising Vasana Fernando, Erandhi Gallage, L.D.S. Romain and Umanga De Soysa won 100 x 4 & 400 x 4 Gold Medals. Hatton National Bank Football Team beat Ceylinco Group by 3 goals to 1 in the finals of Mercantile Football League Championship 2008 played at the CR and FC grounds.

For the winning team N.C. Abeysekera, Prasanna Athukorale and Inoka Guneratne scored goals.

During the tournament HNB beat Lake House, Softlogic, Sri Lankan Airlines and Hirdaramani, HNB was captained by N.C. Abeysekera.
