Oil search begins January

Indian Cairns awarded licences:

Oil exploration activities along the Mannar basin is expected to kick off early next year by an Indian oil company, Cairns Limited.They have been awarded exploration licences by the Government, Director General, Petroleum Resources Development Secretariat (PRDS) Dr Neil de Silva said.

HNB continues impressive performance in first nine months

Hatton National Bank continued its growth momentum in the third quarter ended September 2008 by exceeding Rs. 5 bn in operating profit before taxes while post tax profits increased to Rs. 2.56 bn, which reflects a growth of 47 per cent in post tax profits over the same period in 2007.

Phoenix shines at first Effies
Phoenix Ogilvy Advertising won major honours winning two silvers and four bronze medals at the inaugural effie Awards held at the Water’s Edge yesterday. There were a total of 11 awards and no gold’s were awarded. The company and its subsidiaries won Silver for corporate reputation/ professional and health care products and Bronze for beauty products and services, beverages, financial services and products and telecom services. Grants won two silvers for Telecom services and Government recruitment while Api Wenuwen Api produced by Triad won accolades with a bronze. Minds and JWT were also among the winners. The event was sponsored by Sri Lanka Telecom while the print media sponsor was ANCL (Lake House).
