Literary festival to mark Disabled Day
Esco Rehab Sri Lanka, an organisation committed to the welfare of
disabled in Sri Lanka has organised a National Literary Festival to mark
International Day of the Disabled on November 30 at 5 p.m. at its
headquarters at Egodauyana, Moratuwa.
Western Province Chief Minister Reginald Cooray will preside.
Director of the National Council for Physically Disabled M.P.C.
Jayamanne, Senior Deputy General Manager of the National Savings Bank
Dhammika Perera and proprietor of Sunil Traders, Pettah, Sunil Muthumala
will participate as special guests.
Sai Baba's birthday celebration
A special Bhajan programme organised by the Ratmalana Sri Sathya Sai
Seva Samithi (RSSSS) to celebrate the 83rd birthday of Bhagawan Sri Sai
Sathya Sai Baba will be held on November 30 from 5 p.m. at the Sama
Mandiraya Hall, Sirimal Uyana, Ratmalana.
Nearly 75 needy people around Ratmalana will receive spectacles from
Dilusha Opticians, Ratmalana.
Prof. Sunanda Degamboda, University of Kelaniya, Pearl Kumarasinghe,
Chief Advisor to RSSSS and Dilusha Haputhanthri, Managing Director of
Dilusha Opticians will preside.
Prof. Degamboda will deliver a special sermon.
All participants will receive a free copy of the book Sathya Sai
Madura Bhakthi written by Prof. Degamboda.
Opening of pre-school
A new International Montessori and Pre-School named British Early
Learning School will be inaugurated at Nagahamulla Place, Pannipitiya
Road, Battaramulla on November 30 at 2.30 p.m.
This is an international montessori and Pre-school.
Tissians get-together
The 14th Tissians get-together organised by the Past Pupil's
Association of Tissa Central College, Kalutara will be held on November
29 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Panorama Hotel, Kalutara.
Mahinda Ranaweera Memorial lecture
Mahinda Ranaweera memorial lecture on 'Education to benefit
everyone....' will be delivered by Professor Laxman Jayathilaka on
December 3 at 10 a.m. at the Main Hall, Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte.
It is organised by the Mahinda Ranaweera Memorial Foundation.
Carrom awards
The sixth awards night organised by the Nationalised Services Carrom
Association will be held on November 28 at 7 p.m. at Sarasa City Hotel,
Kandy Road, Wedamulla, Kelaniya.
Awards and certificates will be presented to 132 players. The
association also plans to give awards to the World Carrom Champ - Men's
Single 2008 Viraj Fernando and World Carrom Runner-up Women's Single -
2008 Amitha Wickramasinghe.
Deepal Abeysekera, Head of Marketing and Public Affairs, People's
Bank Bandula Dahanayake, Director General of Sports Development
Department will be the Chief Guest and guest of honour.
Variety entertainment
The annual variety entertainment by the Children of United Christian
Fellowship Bethel Children's Home and Beach Children's Center of
Moratuwa will be held on December 1 at 3.30 p.m. at Methodist Seva
Sevana Hall, Rawatawatte, Moratuwa.
Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Juergen Weerth and
Lieselotte Scholrmueller will be the chief guests.
Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission, Royal Norwedian
Embassy Hilde Haralstad and Deputy Chief of Mission Embassy for the
United States of America James Moore will be the guests of honour.
Annual Shazuliyya
The 139th annual Shazuliyyah Masha-ikh grand feast of Rawlathul
Athkiyyah Jummah Mosque-Totawatte, Panadura will be held on November 29
at 8 p.m.
The reciting of Mowlood began on November 20 which will continue for
10 days. It will end with Manakib Thamman and the grand feast.
A special Bayan of As Khaleefathush Shazulee Moulavi Alhaj As Seyyad
Alavi Mowlana (Murshi) will be delivered at the Grand feast.
