20 believed to be Lankans nabbed off Shark Bay

Up to 20 boat people believed to be Sri Lankans have been discovered off the coast of Shark Bay, south of Carnarvon, about 900km north of Perth, Australia.

It is understood between 15 and 20 people were sighted in a small boat near False Entrance at 3 p.m. yesterday.

Customs have sent a vessel from Carnarvon to try to intercept the smaller boat.

The people are believed to be Sri Lankan nationals, but this is yet to be confirmed officially.
