Lankan student injured in Malaysia attack

A Sri Lankan student is amongst the injured in an attack led by a group of Malaysian gangsters targeting Indian students that took place in Malaysia on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry said yesterday.

The Sri Lankan High Commission in Malaysia has reported that the gangsters have mistaken two Sri Lankan students to be Indians and attacked them.

One Sri Lankan student had managed to escape without sustaining any injuries, while the other who was injured in the attack, has been hospitalised at Serdan Hospital, Subang city, 40 km from Kuala Lumpur.

The Sri Lankan High Commission has kept the families of the two students informed of the incident. A representative from the Mission has also visited the injured student at the Hospital. The Ministry has instructed the Mission to request the Malaysian authorities to ensure the safety of Sri Lankan students in Malaysia.
