EU- Film Festival Colombo begins today
The EU- Film Festival Colombo (a brain child of the Goethe-Institut
Sri Lanka) is ready to take place for the first time from today(28) to
December 6 this year.
13 new films are going to be shown - all with English subtitles.
The participating countries are: France, Germany (in charge: Goethe-Institut),
UK( in charge: British Council), Sweden, Netherlands,
and two guest countries Switzerland and Norway . On the last day the
Sri Lankan film 'Julia' will have its premiere - as a hint and a bridge
into the next year's international film festival in Colombo.
The opening gala will be a cinematographic film event:
The silent classic film 'Nosferatu' by F.W. Murnau (1922) in its
latest restored version with the live accompaniment of the Brazilian-
German trio '5 minute heroes' from Regensburg, Germany
Venue: Regal Cinema
Time: 6.00 p.m. (Please be seated before 5.45 hours)
Instead of tickets passes are available on first come first served
basis. As the seating capacity is limited, the passes should be
collected before hand from the organisers.
The main part of the festival will take place at the BMICH from
November 29 to December 6 (3 screening every day: 10.30 a.m.; 3.30 p.m.;
6.30 p.m.)
Entrance on first come first served basis. Film Seminar: at the BMICH
on Thursday, December 4: European Cinematography - moderated by Dr.Tissa
Abeysekara (at 3.30 p.m.)
Closing Gala - will premiere the latest Sri Lankan film Julia at the
new auditorium of the NFC - on Saturday, 6 December at 6.30 p.m. by
invitation only.
