Seminar on Family Business

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) has organized a full Day Seminar on 'Family businesses in Sri Lanka' today from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at the Hotel Galadari, Colombo.

Family businesses in Sri Lanka have flourished successfully from generation to generation. Family Businesses make a tremendous contribution to Sri Lanka's GDP and are positioned to enter foreign markets.

In Sri Lanka, there are hundreds of family owned business concerns where some of the Companies started their operation during the late 19th century, while majority of them in the early 20th century during the British regime in the island. Today some of the old family enterprises have emerged as highly reputed, successful international enterprises, manufacturing high quality products to various global markets.

The seminar, will highlight and explore the possibilities and the criteria needed of taking the old established companies and Family owned businesses in Sri Lanka, beyond the third generation, thus keeping the original pledges, commitments, transparency and the vision of the grand parents.

An International Speaker, Sri Suresh Padmanabhan, of The Money Workshop, Financial and Management Guru, of Maharashtra, India, have been specially flown down from India to share his knowledge on how Indian Family companies have thrived for generations and how they have conquered the world.

Former Country Manager for Morgan Stanley Asia, Jevan Tan, runs several family business in Singapore and has tremendous experience in assisting Family companies in the Asia Pacific Region.
