Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (KVPL), owned and managed by Dipped Products, the Hayleys Group's multinational hand protection business has won two prestigious national awards at recent ceremonies in recognition for its outstanding performance in business.

KVPL received the Agricultural and Plantations Sector Award at last week's National Business Excellence Awards (NBEA), an annual competition conducted by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka.

"This award recognises KVPL as a business enterprise that has demonstrated excellence in business whilst contributing to the economic progress of the country," Managing Director of KVPL Kavi Seneviratne said.

KVPL was also presented the Gold Export award in the 'Service Providers to Exports - Extra Large Sector' at the recent NCE Export Awards, also an annual event conducted by National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka. The award recognised the company's export performance in 2007.

"As a business group that has traditionally focused on producing and exporting value added produce, it is most encouraging to be recognised our contribution to the country in this particular area," Seneviratne said.

KVPL manages 27 estates with an extent of more than 13,000 hectares, divided almost equally in to tea and rubber.

All of the company's black tea producing factories have been certified compliant with HACCP, ISO 22000:2005 and SGS-TASL product quality standards, ensuring that the teas they manufacture meet the highest required international food safety standards.
