Vigneshwari and Christopher winners

Vigneshwari from Colombo district and Christopher Paul from Puttalam district clinched the championship titles of the National Youth Sports Festival 2008 in marathon women's and men's races held at Beliatta recently.

The time card of the Vigneswari is hours 1.36.10 and the time card of Christopher Paul was hours 2.55.10.

The results of 10 competitors who completed the race are as follows:

Results (men's): 1. Christopher Paul (Puttalam), 2. Himal Ayesh Hirantha (Galle), 3. S. W. Saman Ganasiri (Anuradhapura), 4. N. Selva Kumar (Nuwara Eliya), 5. Chrisnamani Selvakumar (Nuwara Eliya), 6. Kokilamadam (Badulla), 7. Selvaraj Vivekanandan (Nuwara Eliya), 8. Weeraiya Thigeswaran (Matale), 9. V. A. Indika Nuwan (Ratnapura), 10. Thanga Velu Thangaraja (N'Eliya).

Women's race: 1. Vigneshwari (Colombo), 2. Sajika Ranjanee (Kurunegala), 3. J. Gobika (N'Eliya), 4. Sandika Sandamali (Kurunegala), 5. W. P. Jeevanthi (Kegalle), 6. Ruwani Lakmali (Kalutara), 7. Dishna Damayanthi (Kurunegala), 8. Rasika Lakmali (Hambantota), 9. Thanuja Damayanthi (Hambantota), 10. Indira Priyadharshani (Moneragala).

These races were conducted to coincide with the 20th National Youth Sports Festival to be held on November 28, 29, 30 and December 1 at D. A. Rajapaksa grounds, Beliatta.
