Tripitaka translation a gigantic task - PM

The Tripitakaya is written in Pali and its translation into Sinhala is really a gigantic task. I pay tribute to those who were involved in this meritorious act, Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka said at a function held at Prime Minister’s Office recently.

“This Government grants all the assistance needed for the propagation of Buddhism. There is said to be a delay in the translation of this Buddhist script. But this is something which needs to be done very carefully, the Prime Minister said.

Balangoda Sobhitha Thera, Chief Incumbent of the Bambalapitiya Wajiraramaya Ven. Maharagama Siri Wajiragnana Thera, Sri Lanka Amarapura Chapter’s Ven. Thirikunamale Ananda Thera, Chancellor of the Kelaniya University Ven. Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma Thera, Additional Secretary to the Ministry W.A.D.R. Suwineetha, Commissioner General of Buddhist Affair’s Chandraprema Gamage, Co-ordinating Officer to Thripitaka Board K.K. Sugathapala and several others were present.
