Korea -Lanka to strengthen ties
Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Ki Chul Choi paid a courtesy call
on Minister of Housing Gitanjana Gunawardena in Parliament.
They discussed the Avissawella Preliminary Care Unit where work is
nearing completion and the specialized medical equipment donated by the
Korean Foundation for International Healthcare (K-FIH). This project was
initiated when the Minister was the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament.
Minister Gunawardena mentioned about the Sister Hospital Concept to
the Korean Ambassador who mentioned that this could be done through
KOICA as they can change services from one particular area to another.
The Ambassador also said that the Republic of Korea supports the
Government’s efforts to eradicate poverty. He also explained that the
“Jaltara Housing Project” was done by the ‘Keangnam’ and the Ambassador
explained that Sri Lanka is among the 50 countries that has been
earmarked for aid and assistance from Korea.
