NFL cutting post season ticket prices
With fans facing tough economic times, the National Football League
is prepared to take a hit by lowering ticket prices for playoff games.
The league cited the poor economy Wednesday in announcing that ticket
prices for postseason games will be some 10 percent lower than last
year.
“We want to be responsive to the economic challenges facing our
fans,” an NFL spokesman said.
League commissioner Roger Goodell recently sent ticket pricing
guidelines to all teams who are in contention for a postseason berth.
As part of the guidelines, the league for the first time authorized
lower ticket prices for the opening wild card round than the divisional
playoff games the following weekend. Traditionally, prices have been the
same for both rounds.
The specific average playoff ticket prices can’t be determined until
the home playoff sites are decided in the weeks leading up to the Super
Bowl, which will be held in Tampa, Florida, on February 1.
