Raja Maha Viharaya to be made sacred area

The Ministry of Urban Development and Sacred Area Development has now
taken steps to develop the historic Yapahuwa ancient Raja Maha Viharaya
in Maho Divisional Secretary's division of the Kurunegala district as a
sacred area.
A sum of Rs. 60 million has been allocated by the Government to
develop this ancient temple and its premises as a sacred site. The
construction work of this ancient temple is done under the supervision
of T. B. Ekanayake, the acting Minister of Highways and Road Development
and Dinesh Gunawardena, the Minister of Urban Development and Sacred
Areas Development.
Construction work is done without any harm or damage to its historic
or archaeological value and both local and foreign tourists will be
provided with modern facilities under the proposed development plan,
Venerable Meegammana Siriratana, the incumbent of this temple told the
