A
unique Bharatha Natyam
Hirushi Himashi Jayasena presented her maiden Bharatha Dance recital
recently at the Auditorium of Vishaka Vidyalaya Colombo. Hirushi is an
eleven year student at Vishaka Vidyalaya Colombo in Grade seven. It is
clear that her performance reveals that she is a vibrant and a girl of
dynamism and courage.
Hirushi is the only daughter of Dr. Ranil Jayasena and Madani
Jayasena. Both parents are admirers of aesthetics and they are skilled
in singing. Hirushi has brought credit to her school Vishaka Vidyalaya-Colombo
and the principal Rukmani Chithra Gunarathne should be proud of the high
level of attainment of Hirushi in Baratha Natyam under her able
guidance. Hirushi's teacher of Baratha Natayam Priyadarshani Bandara
should be congratulated for producing a versatile pupil with creativity
and a deep knowledge par excellence.
The recital commenced with the traditional dances like homage to God
Shiva and Jathiswarm.
A appreciable response emerged when she danced to the songs, vrunda
vanaye by sangith nipun Prof. Sanath Nandasiri, Ran pokunen by Late
Milton Perera, jaya kehali bandana by Dr. Dayrathna Ranatunga and Prof.
Amara Ranatunga, Podi mal ethano by Late Ananda Samarakoon with P. B.
Leelavathie.
The encomium received by Hirushi from the public could be considered
a motivation for her to proceed with her activities successfully
pertaining to Baratha Natayam.
