Minister wants rugby selectors to continue

On 22nd October 2008 the Minister of Sports and Public Recreation Hon. Gamini Lokuge appointed the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Selection Committee which comprised the following Rohan Abeykoon - Chairman, Chaminda Rupasinghe, Hafeez Marso, Nazeem Mohamed, Rohantha Peiris.

On Saturday, 1st November 2008 due to unforeseen circumstances the Rugby Football Selection Committee announced their resignations. As all the above gentleman have represented Sri Lanka and have played rugby at the highest level for the country and as all of them have a very good creditability and a very sound reputation the Minister refused to accept all their resignations and have requested the entire Selection Committee to continue in office.

Chaminda Rupasinghe was personally requested by Minister to proceed as the tour Selector.
