Champs Ranaviru continue winning streak

Reigning champions Ranaviru Sevana continued their winning streak with an easy 117 run win over the CEI Plastics team.

Taking first lease of the wicket Ranviru were all out for 192 runs in 35 overs. K.T. Abeyratne compiled a fluent 53 runs with E. Ekanayake contributing an useful 35. Sri Lanka cap A. Kalyanakumara bagged 3 wickets for 24 runs.

CEI Plastics were shot out for a paltry 75 runs with Abeyratne accomplishing a fine double with 3 wickets for 3 runs.

Poor running between the wickets by CEI Plastics caused six run outs.


Sandagala blind school in upset win

Debutants School for the Blind Sandagala scored an upset win over the much experienced team from the school for the Blind, Ratmalana, in their Dilmah Challenge Trophy tourney match played at the Prison Grounds, recently.

Though restricted to 128 runs in 25 overs, they shot out the lads from Ratmalana for a measly 52 runs in 12 overs. Sri Lanka cap Madhushanka notched 20 runs for Sandagala. Lankshan bagged three wickets for 20 runs.


A drawn game

Prince of Wales' College, Moratuwa bounced back on day two to play for a draw in their inter-school under 19 cricket tournament match played against Thurstan College, Colombo. However Thurstanites led on the first innings by 84 runs.

Cambrians in their second essay fought back courageously and cautiously to score 211 runs leaning Thurstanites to score 128 runs for an outright victory in three overs. Six of the Cambrian batsmen entered into double figures. Chamalka Gamage captured 4 for 35 for Thurstan.

Chief Scores: PWC - 154 and 211 - Shehan Dammalage 31, Thisara de Mel 35, Dilan Chandima 28, Thushara Alwis 24, Malshan Mendis 26, Shehan Jayasuriya 20 n/o, Chamalka Gamage 4/35, Shehan Kamaleen 3/78.

St. Joseph's College trounced Maris Stella College Negombo by an innings and 53 runs in their inter school cricket tournament match concluded at Campbell Park yesterday.

Gateway College (Colombo) beat Asian International School by 72 runs in their under 15 Inter International Cricket tournament conducted by Belvoir College recently at Shalika Grounds.

Gateway College 184 for 5 in 27 overs (Rajeev Keerthiwardana 41; Lakshan Kodagoda 40; Dhananjana Seneviratne 22; Sachin Siriwardana 21, Dulan Perera 2 for 37; Saad Mansoor 2 for 37).

Asian International 112 all out in 23.5 overs (Saad Mansoor 18; Chandri Jayathilaka 17; Charinda Dissanayake 15; Dhananjana Seneviratne 5 for 11; Lakshan Kodagoda 2 for 13).
