Baby elephant's carcass found in forest

The carcass of a baby elephant was found in a forest in Pitigoda, Udu
Dumbara by officers of the Udu Dumbara Wildlife Department office on
Saturday.
A Wildlife Department Spokesman said the baby elephant which was
about 10 months old had no external injuries.
It may have belonged to the herd roaming in the Sanctuaries
surrounding Victoria, Randenigala and Rantambe reservoirs.
A postmortem examination was due to be held yesterday to ascertain
the cause of death.
