Fourth Session of World Urban Forum

The Fourth Session of the World Urban Forum which is organised by the United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN Habitat) will be held in Nanjing, China from November 3 to 7. The theme of the United Nahe Forum is ‘Harmonious Urbanization: the Challenge of Balanced Territorial Development’. Minister of Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Dinesh Gunawardena and Minister of Housing and Common Amenities Ferial Ashraff will lead the Sri Lankan delegation for the World Urban Forum 4.


Aapasu Herenna Be

Promising young dramatist, Rajitha Disanayaka’s latest play, ‘Aapasu Herenna Be’ (No Return) will be staged at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 1 at the Colombo British School Auditorium, No. 63, Elvitigala Mawatha, Borella.

Popular artistes such as Saumya Liyanage, Bimal Jayakody, W. Jayasiri, Jayani Senanayaka, Anasuya Subasinghe are among the main cast.

The event has been organized by the Holcim (Lanka) Ltd, Executives Alumini Club as a Fundraiser.


Anthonian little stars programme

A variety entertainment programme titled ‘Anthonian Little Stars 2008’ will be held at 9.30 am today at the school premises. Western Province Chief Minister Reginald Cooray will be the chief guest.


Blood donation

A blood donation campaign to assist Security Forces and Police organised by the Malimbada Eksath Tharuna Kela will be held at Sri Indrarama Purana Viharaya, Malimbada on November 2.


Renaming ceremony

Housing Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena will rename Hanwella Divisional Secretary’s Division as Seethawaka Divisional Secretary’s Division at a ceremony to be held on November 3.


National Reading Month

The Colombo Public Library has organised a grand celebration at the Library Auditorium at 3 pm on October 31 to mark National Reading Month.


Seminar

A media seminar for senior school students on the theme - Media in the 21st Century - organised by the Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum in association with Al-Aman Muslim Maha Vidyalaya, Galloluwa, Minuwangoda will be held on Saturday, November 1 at 9 am at the school.


Prize Giving

The annual prize giving of the Baudhayatana Dhamma School at Watarappala Road, Mt. Lavinia will be held on November 2.

The prize giving of the junior section will be held at 8.30 am and it is sponsored by Ven. Dr. Talgaswewa Seelananda Thera - Head of the Samatha Vidharshana Meditation Centre, Canada and presided by Ven. Agalakada Sirisumana Thera, Senior Lecturer of the Colombo University.


Mihindukula on Siyatha

Veteran Journalist and film critic Sunil Mihindukula will be on Siyatha radio station’s ‘The songs I like’ programme aired at 10 pm today.
