Sri Lanka to chair SATRC next year

The 10th Meeting of the South Asian Regulators' Council (SATRC) was held in New Delhi, India from October 13 to 15.

At this meeting Priyantha Kariyapperuma, Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission submitted a proposal to implement a low tariff among regional countries in line with the decision taken at the 15th SAARC summit in Colombo.

At this meeting in New Delhi Chairman, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Shri Nipendra Misra, succeeded Chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Major General Manzuru Alam, as Chairman SATRC. Sri Lanka will host the 11th SATRC meeting in 2009 and the Chairmanship will be passed on to Sri Lanka.
