Three surrender over Nawala assault

A Pradesya Sabha member and his two brothers who are allegedly involved in the killing of a youth on Wednesday in Nawala surrendered to the Koswatta police last morning.

Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said, victim M.M. Rizwan (25), a resident of Malingala had been assaulted by a PS member and two of his brothers on Wednesday at around 7.30 pm in Nawala, Koswatta.

Rizwan died after admission to the Colombo National Hospital. He was assaulted over a dispute, SSP Gunasekera told the Daily News. Meanwhile, SSP Gunasekera said another youth was shot dead by unknown gunmen on Wednesday night in Anna Road, Valaichenai.

Y. Robin (25) was gunned down by three unidentified suspects at his residence. The gang had come on a motorbike and fled the area after shooting at the victim, SSP Gunasekera said.
