The Centre for Banking Studies has organised a presentation on "The Essence of Strategy: Beyond Economics" by Dr. Uditha Liyanage, Director, Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) University of Sri Jayewardenepura on Thursday, October 30 at 5.00 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Centre for Banking Studies, Rajagiriya.


Meditation

The Theosophical Society in Sri Lanka will have a Chakra Meditation and a group discussion followed by the viewing of a video film "Tibetan book of the dead" on Saturday, November 1 at 10.30 a.m. at Society Headquarters Hall, No. 49, Fredrica Road, Wellawatta, Colombo 6. All are welcome.


Prize giving

The annual prize giving of Prince of Wales' College, Moratuwa will be held on October 31 at the college main hall. The Chief Guest on the occasion will be Dr. Sudath Rohan Munasinghe who is the Senior Lecturer of the Electronic and Telecommunication Section of the University of Moratuwa.


Seminar on peace

A seminar on peace organised by the Methodist Memorial Church, Moors Road, Wellawatte will be held on Saturday, November 1 from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. at the Church Hall.


BBC radio playwriting competition

The BBC World Service International Radio Playwriting Competition 2009 will be the eleventh biennial competition, run in conjunction with the British Council.

Applicants are invited to write a radio play of approximately 60 minutes in length, on a subject of their choice. The play must be the original, unpublished work of the person or persons submitting it.

Applications close on Tuesday, March 31, 2009

Prayers, religious lectures

A programme of players and religious lectures will commence on Sunday, November 2, with Rathibathul Jalaliya by Maulavi Hafiz Aadhil, Principal of Al Kullieyathul Arusiyathul Qudiriya Arabic College. It will be conducted after Maghrib prayers and will continue till Isha prayers. A religious lecture will also be conducted by Moulavi Al Haj M.T. Hilurdeen after Isha prayers at the Nawala Jummah Mosque.


Badur Mowlood, Majlis

The recital of Badur Mowlood will start on October 30 after Maghrib prayers and will continue until Isha prayers at the Nawala Jummah Mosque.


Play

Promising young dramatist, Rajitha Disanayaka's latest play, 'Aapasu Herenna Be' (No Return) will be staged at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 1 at the Colombo British School Auditorium, No. 63, Elvitigala Mawatha, Borella.

Popular artistes such as Saumya Liyanage, Bimal Jayakody, W. Jayasiri, Jayani Senanayaka, Anasuya Subasinghe are among the main cast.


Harvest festival

The Christian Reformed Church at Wolvendal, Colombo 13, has organised 'Harvest Festival - 2008' will be held on November 2 at the church premises. The celebration begins with the Holy Communion Service at 7.45 a.m.
