A'pura hospital strike called off

The doctors staff at the Anuradhapura Teaching hospital including the consultants called off the strike launched yesterday at 8.00 a.m. after 3 hours of its starting.

Secretary Anuradhapura GMOU branch Dr. Ruwan Sampath told the Daily News that on an assurance given by the Health Care and Nutrition Ministry Secretary Dr. Athula Kahandaliyanage that teaching hospital Director Dr. Sarath Weera Bandara would be removed from the post and until such time a permanent senior and qualified medical officer has been appointed. Dr. H.A.P. Karunatilake the present Deputy Director would be authorised to act for the Director of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.
