British holiday maker drowns

A British tourist on holiday drowned while sea bathing in the South last week. The victim was Richard Stephen Bucklay, a 46 year father of three children from Liverpool, England. He was drowned while taking a dip in the sea at Talpe, Galle, police said.

He had come to Sri Lanka with his wife and one child for one month vacation and had been staying at Beach Garden Resort at Mihiripenna, Galle. While bathing in the sea he was caught by an under water current and the victim was dragged into the deep sea and his body was found 4 hours later. J.M.O. Karapitiya Hospital Dr. Mahinda Hettiarachchi conducted the autopsy. According to the JMO’s report and the evidence Inquirer into Sudden Deaths B.G.N. Karunatilake returned a verdict of death due to drowning.
