Carpooling might sound alien to us in a speck but, it is being used
widely around the world for sharing a car with multiple travellers.
Formal carpool projects have been around in a structured form since
the mid 1970s and it has grown to an extent that it serves as a platform
for travelling in various cities locally and even internationally.

Golden anniversary
The largest women's organisation in Sri Lanka, with a membership of
over 5000 housewives in Colombo, and its 17 branches spread throughout
the Island celebrates its Golden Anniversary with a gala banquet and
evening of entertainment titled "Golden Jubilee Nite" at the Holiday Inn
Hotel on Saturday, November 8 from 7 p.m. onwards.
Computer Graphic course
The Sri Lanka Institute of Printing will be introducing a study
programme in computer Graphic Designing by the end of November 2008.
The Course will be conducted in Sinhala with the essential
terminology in English.

New dual rail track, bridge to be opened on Tuesday

Minister of Transport Dullas Alahapperuma will open the new dual
rail-track from Panadura to Kalutara South and the new-bridge across
Kaluganga at 9.30 a.m. on Tuesday.
A dual rail-track from Kalutara South to Payagala railway-station
would also be opened on the same day.
The dual track was constructed in two stages, the first from Panadura
to Wadduwa and the second from Wadduwa to the Kalutara South railway
station. |
