Renown in stunning 4-2 win over Blue Star sc

Dialog Premier League Soccer:

Renown Sports Club from Kotahena completely outplayed the more experienced Blue Star Sports Club from Kalutara four goals to two in a Dialog Premier League encounter at CR and FC ground yesterday.

Blue Star SC came to the field as hot favourites expecting to have a cake walk victory over their rivals which is the most unexperienced team in the fray. Renown SC had only one well known player in Krishantha Abeysekera who is a national pool player. Renown was expecting him to deliver the goods for the team. But sad to say he was never seen moving well and did not concentrate well to pass the ball at the correct time. This resulted in losing many scoring opportunities by the strikers.

Renown was lucky to take the lead in the 18th minute when Dilan Perera sent a good ball from right wing to M. I.Anam to head the ball straight into the net.

Renown held onto this lead till the lemons 1-0.

Coach of the Renown SC made one of the best decision to pull out Krishantha Abeysekera and included Mohamed Fazal the schoolboy from Zahira College who is also a member of the schools’ soccer pool. His inclusion paid high dividends for the Kotahena team. He struck his first goal in the 67th minute and went onto put his side in full control of the game.

Luck came in Blue Stars way when a penalty was awarded to them from which they reduced the deficit to 2-1. The young prodigy from Zahira College made things worse for the Blue Star team scoring his second goal just ten minutes away from the final whistle.

Mohamed Farzan once again reduced the lead to 3-2. Fazal who was in fine fettle in a solo effort dribbling the nearly 30 metres, slammed his goal to make a hat trick of goals.

At this moment Blue Star players found fault with the side referee, saying he made a mistake by not signalling off side. Referee Anura de Silva commenced the game but the side referee had problems with few Blue Star supporters and the play lost nearly ten minutes. The situation was brought under control and the game continued for the balance five minutes.

The Blue Star team’s senior players did not perform well during this game and if they continue with this trend are sure not to be in the front line as they have already lost two games in round one.

On the other side young Renown SC will try their best to be among the top ranks provided they maintain the present form.
