Edna products to be re-tested

Colombo High Court Judge Kumuduni Wickremasinghe issued an order to the Consumers Affairs Authority to send several samples of Edna products to a Singapore laboratory and obtain a specialised report in connection with Edna products and submit a report to Court on the next date.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Manjula Thilakaratne yesterday issued an order to stop production at the Edna Chocolates factory, Kelaniya until further notice.

The Court also directed the Directors of the Edna Chocolates Ceylon Limited not to issue any of their products to the market.

In a lengthy order the Additional Magistrate directed Edna Company to dispose the milk powder imported from China and to collect all items issued by the company to the market and publish a notice in the media, to educate the public not to use their chocolates.

Edna Company directors were present in Court during the proceedings.

The High Court issued this order in a revision application filed by Edna Company through their Lawyer President's Counsel Wijedasa Rajapaksha.
