National Civilian Bravery Awards
The Foundation for Civilian Bravery is accepting applications from
Sri Lankans seeking to nominate candidates for the Awards for Civilian
Bravery conferred by the Foundation for 2009.
Those eligible for recognition are Sri Lankan citizens who
courageously without concern of danger to his/her life or limb volunteer
to save others whose lives are imperiled by tide, fire, mine, and rough
seas and similar dangers occasioned by natural or man-made disasters.
The awards consist of Budal Na Gold Medal and Silver Medals for
Civilian Bravery.
A panel of judges will select the persons to receive the awards on
the basis of interviews and any available supporting evidence on receipt
of the application. Closing date is January 15, 2009 and the applicable
periods from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008.
Applications may be submitted personally by the candidate or anyone
who is acquainted with the incident. The responsibility for providing
evidence lies with the applicant and the candidate. Previous awardees of
the gold and silver medals are not eligible to apply.
The award does not carry financial grants.
The decision of the panel of judges is final.
