Invest in Lanka, PM tells Chinese industrialists
Although China is an economic giant sustained by a large population
it never interferes with the internal affairs of any csountry, Prime
Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka told a reception accorded to him by
the Yunan Province Governor, Qin Guanrong.
The Prime Minister said the Sri Lanka-China friendship dates back to
thousands of years which has been cemented by the BMICH, Superior Courts
Complex, Hambantota new Port Complex, Norochcholai coal-fired Power
Generation Plant and Performing Arts Centre. The two countries are
diplomatically and culturally bound together, he said.
“I invite all Chinese industrialists to invest in Sri Lanka. Sri
Lanka is a paradise for tourists. Soon we will eradicate terrorism from
Sri Lanka. Most countries, including China are with us. The
international community is totally against terrorism,” the Prime
Minister said.
Yunan Governor Qin Guanrong said Sri Lanka is an old friend of China.
“President Mahinda Rajapaksa has developed a very close relationship
with us, as borne out by his recent visits. We have planned to invest in
Sri Lanka in response to Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka’s
request,” he said.
Several Chinese high officials and Sri Lanka Ambassador Karunatilleke
Amunugama were also present. |
