AIDEX sports day Sunday

This year and for the third year running, the European Union will co-sponsor the AIDEX sports day on Sunday at the Reid Avenue Grounds.

AIDEX is the annual sports festival organised by the Colombo Friend-in-Need Society, one of the oldest charitable organisations in Sri Lanka that supplies limbs for amputees throughout the island under the Jaipur Foot Programme. AIDEX is part of the rehabilitation programme for the disabled using Jaipur limbs and wheelchairs.

Limb users islandwide are encouraged to participate to showcase their abilities as well as the versatility of the limbs provided free-of charge by the CFNS. Both children as young as 8-10 years and elders over 70 years participate enthusiastically.

This year 325 participants will compete in a total of 53 events including track and field, cycling and archery.
