Request to renovate roads before resettlement

A request has been made to renovate the roads in Rugam, Batticaloa
district before the resettlement of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Co-ordinator to the Chief Minister, Eastern Province, K. L. Akeel has
made a this representation to Chairman, Eravurpattu Pradeshiya Sabha S.
Jeevarangam.
Due to the conflict 350 Muslim families were displaced in Rugam
village in 1990.
These families live in several villages of the Eastern Province as
IDPs.
After 18 years, there is a conducive environment to resettle these
IDPs in their own villages, Co-ordinator to the Chief Minister pointed
out.
The roads in the Rugam village are full of potholes and not motorable,
he said. the Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman assured to take immediate steps
to renovate these roads.
