Four arrested with 300 packs of heroin

Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said four suspects were arrested along with 300 packets of heroin yesterday morning near Sivan Kovil in Trincomalee.

Police seized 300 packets of heroin in possession of four suspects while they were moving suspiciously near the Sivan Kovil at around 8.00 a.m.

The suspects had been taken into custody for further investigations.

Meanwhile, arms were unearthed from a house in St.Anthony's Road in Batticaloa on Monday evening, SSP Gunasekera said. Following a tip-off police seized a T56 assault riffle and 25 rounds ammunition hidden inside a tank in the backyard of the house.
