President to meet Opposition Leader
President Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday that he would soon brief
Opposition and UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe on the current
developments including the Wanni humanitarian mission and efforts to
evolve a political solution.
He said the UNP could have made a more positive contribution by
participating in the All party Conference which was convened for the
seventh time recently.
The Government will give its fullest support for the establishment of
the Constitutional Council, which he described as another all party
mechanism. “I stand for all Sri Lankans, regardless of communities,
religions and geographic locations. That is my vision. That is why we
are keen to eradicate terrorism and restore democracy in the North as
well.”
