No Committee Stage debate for certain financial heads

The Party Leaders yesterday decided in Parliament to discuss the financial heads of several ministries except the major ministries at a special committee without debating them at the Committee Stage.

It was decided to submit all materials that were discussed at the special committee before the Parliament on the particular day that was allocated in the Committee Stage debate for the relevant ministry.

The committee would consist of 31 members with 16 from the Government and the rest from the Opposition.

The party leaders arrived at this decision after a proposal by the Government to reduce the number of days that were allocated for the budgetary debate due to security concerns.
