DMK's human chain a flop

The DMK's much publicised human chain protest scheduled for yesterday was postponed.

However, political sources said the protest was fizzled out due to lack of support from political parties and the decision by ruling Congress to withdraw. DMK President M. Karunanidhi called the protest as part of their campaign to pressure Indian Government to halt the on-going military operations in the North against the LTTE. People from all districts were invited to take part in the anticipated massive human chain cum rally in Chennai.

DMK President said the protest was postponed due to rain and it will be reconvened on October 24.
