Landslide warning in hill country

KANDY: With the onset of the rainy season, the National Building Research Organisation has warned about the possibility of landslides in several areas of the hill country.

Areas in Walapane, Hanguranketha and Kandy with a history of landslides will be specially prone to this danger, said Geologist Samantha Kumara Bogahapitiya of the National Building Research Organisation.

People in hilly areas in Badulla, Kegalle, Ratnapura and Kalutara districts should also be alert to the possible danger of earthslips during this period, he said.
