The little defenders

The students of Grades one and two classes of the Defence Services College Colombo gave a concert at the school premises to mark 'World Children' s Day' last week. The school was declared open in June 2007 fulfilling a longstanding requirement to accommodate the children of the Armed Forces and the Police. Twenty one items were presented at the concert which ended with an item of 'Api Venuwen Api' concept where children were in military uniforms. Parents and officials of the Zone participated at this event.

Zonal Director Jayanthi Gamage was the chief guest. Director of the school Major General R. K. P. Ranaweera said that the ten principles of Self-Esteem announced by the Ministry of Women's Affairs was promoted at the event as this year's theme.
