Lankan cricketers off to Canada
The Sri Lanka cricket team left the island yesterday to participate
in the Quadrangular Twenty20 limited overs tournament which will be
worked off from October 10 to 13 in Canada.
Sri Lanka will be vying for honours in this tournament along with
hosts Canada, Pakistan and Zimbabwe. The Lankans will take on Zimbabwe
while Pakistan will meet Canada in the opening round of matches with the
final schedule for October 13.
Meanwhile the International Cricket Council (ICC) yesterday announced
match referee and umpire appointments for this international tournament
which will take place in King City, Ontario. The match referee for the
series will be Jeff Crowe of the Emirates
Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees while the on-field umpires will be
Mark Benson of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Karran
Bayney
of the ICC Associate and Affiliate International Umpires' Panel.
