Special squad to raid bogus job agencies

The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau jointly with the Immigration and Emigration Department has set up a special squad to raid bogus employment agencies and their agents duping foreign employment seekers.

This squad operating under the direct supervision of SLBFE chairman Kingsly Ranawaka will investigate complaints on bogus employment agencies and agents who deceive the public promising overseas jobs. This squad has been empowered to raid such agencies and assist the legal proceedings against them.

"We are receiving numerous complaints regarding bogus agents who deceive the public promising overseas jobs with better salaries.

In some instances these agents have taken money from the job seekers," Ranawaka said.

All these complaints are investigated into by this squad and stern action will be taken against such racketeers, he said.
