Compensation for blast victims

The Government has granted Rs.2.million to the Government Agent in Anuradhapura to provide compensation for the victims of the suicide attack that targeted Major General Janaka Perera in Anuradhapura yesterday.

Disaster Relief Services Minister M.S.S.Ameer Ali told the Daily News that around Rs.100,000 including Rs.10,000 as funereal expenses would be paid in respect of each deceased person. He further said that the compensation for the injured persons will be provided depending on the doctor's reports.

According to the Police and Hospital sources, 28 people were killed and 86 injured people have been admitted to the Anuradhapura Hospital following the incident.
