CBA annual cricket sixes

The Annual six a side soft ball cricket tournament of Ceylon Business Appliances (Pvt) Limited will be held on Sunday at Race Course Grounds, Reid Avenue, Colombo - 07 starting from 9.00 a.m.

This is a tournament on 'knock-out' basis and a team will comprise of 5 male players and 1 female player. 21 teams will be in action to prove their supremacy to win the coveted CBA Cricket Sixes - 2008 Trophy and the respective cash awards for best performers in the tournament.

The Organizing Committee requests all players and members of CBA staff to be present at the venue by 8.30 a.m.


Nishal shines for Bens

St. Benedict's College Skipper Nishal Fonseka played a good knock of 67 and Sumudu Ruwantha bowled a brilliant spell of 3 for 20 to trounce the visiting Ananda Shastralaya by 84 runs in their Under 17 Inter-Schools Cricket Tournament Division I second round match played at the St. Benedict's Ground recently.

Batting first, St. Benedict's College scored 206 for 8 wickets with Nishal Fonseka playing the key role of scoring well supported by Shannon Patterson (28) and Prageeth Fernando (27). K.V.S. Silva got 3 wickets for 38.

In reply, Ananda Shastralaya could only collect 122.

Low scoring match

In another encounter, Bens overwhelmed Kalutara Vidyalaya by seven wickets. In this low scoring match, Kalutara Vidyalaya playing on their home soil, were bowled out for 59 runs.

St. Benedict's team over took the target losing only three wickets. Nishal Fonseka scored 21.

Upul Perera hit an unbeaten century to help Piliyandala Town Sports Club beat Bloomfield by 134 runs in their SLC division three cricket tournament match worked off at Piliyandala recently.
