Amba Research launches CSR

Amba Research has launched a series of CSR activities to commemorate five years in operation.

In its biggest such project to date, in mid-October, Amba Research Lanka will supply computer hardware to a rural school in the Puttalam District to facilitate the inclusion of IT-based education in their curriculum. Earlier this year, Amba concluded a successful blood drive in conjunction with the Sri Lanka Red Cross and donated essential supplies to the Army Seva Vanitha unit. As part of an ongoing project, every year, Amba provides gifts and supplies to various orphanages across Sri Lanka.

In addition to making great strides in the investment research support services space, Amba has gained respect and recognition for its initiatives in the area of education as well. Amba regularly hosts career guidance workshops and seminars for University graduates in several Sri Lankan Universities. Amba has hosted a Capital Markets Quiz for educational institutions for the last two years. Amba in Sri Lanka has also dedicated efforts towards working with leading international education providers like the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Programme.

Amba Research Lanka has the distinction of being the first and only Sri Lankan company to have received the CIMA CPD (Continuing Professional Development) accreditation. Thus, the company is currently ranked alongside firms such as General Electric, Barclays and Deutsche. Amba Research Lanka employs the largest concentration of CFA Charter holders as well as the largest number of fully-qualified CIMA members in Sri Lanka. Currently over 20% of Amba Lanka staff is pursuing their CFA Charter, following different levels of the CFA programme.

Reflecting on Amba Research's fifth birthday, Managing Director Ravi Abeysuriya said that 'I am pleased about what Amba has achieved in this relatively short span of time. We have groomed a generation of world class finance professionals and put Sri Lanka on the world map as a destination for Investment Research support services. Some of our staff has gone onto the world's most prestigious universities for their MBAs.'
