SLCSI celebrates 45th anniversary
Sri Lanka Chamber of Small Industry (SLCSI) celebrates its 45th year
of existence on November 24 at "Waters Edge". Prime Minister Ratnasiri
Wickremanayake will be chief guest.
The Small Chamber (SLCSI) is to be incorporated by an Act of
Parliament and is to be known as the Sri Lanka Chamber of Small and
Medium Industry (SLCSMI). The Chamber will be launching its annual
"Industrial Excellence Award 2008", the objective of giving recognition
to the members who have excelled at National and International level and
brought credit to the country.
The Chamber will sign a "Memorandum of Understanding" (MOU) with
Lanka Puthra Development Bank to facilitate financial funding to assist
the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME).
The Chamber will establish an Institute to train unskilled labour
with the participation of Commerce Queensland, Australia. The mentioned
events will be celebrated at the function.
Incorporation of the Chamber, final documents are with Parliament,
which is to be gazetted and the Bill is to be moved in Parliament by MP
Nirupama Rajapaksa shortly.
The twelve Past Presidents of the Chamber for their outstanding
services to the Small and Medium Sector of Industry during the past 45
years will be recognised with Silver Awards.
Several senior members of the Chamber who achieved eminence in their
industry will be presented "Eminence in Industry" Awards.
"Industrial Excellence Award 2008" is with the co-operation of the
Sri Lanka Export Development Board and fifteen of the members of the
Chamber will receive awards, who have brought credit to their
professions.
President of SLCSI Aloy Jayawardene is of the view that this
celebration, will provide an encouragement to its 260 members who are in
the Small and Medium Industry provide an encouragement to improve their
management practices and utilise modern technology to upgrade their
production process, resulting in benefits to Mother Lanka.
Lanka Puthra Development Bank will be the principal sponsor for the
celebrations. |
